hatched, singapore
ive always wanted to check out this restaurant ever since I read about it in food blogs sometime back. however, everytime I made it to the island republic, there’s always something else to eat (like the famous katong laksa, Singapore version of hokkien mee, roti prata and etc). so yesterday, the minute I met up with ross, a fellow photographer in tumblr too, I told him we should check out hatched even if the nearest food court has bikini clad girls serving drinks. Hahaha..
we reached around 10+am and the restaurant was full house. those without reservations will have to sit outside but luckily the restaurant is located inside a lodge (?) so sitting outside means out at the foyer, not al-fresco dining. we screened through the menu and immediately placed our order. brunch is all about egg benedict so without hesitation, we ordered two different types of mains.
#1 – burly benedict @ SGD12 for single portion
perfectly poached egg topped with mornay sauce, wagyu corned beef on a half english muffin. sides include garden greens and sautéed potatoes and onions.
#2 – smoked royale @ SGD12 for single portion
perfectly poached egg topped with hollandaise sauce, sliced norwegian salmon on a half english muffin. sides include garden greens and homemade mash.
#3 - hot chocolate and latte @ SGD5 and SGD5.5 each.
one word to describe the food: orgasmic
cutting into the poached egg had the yolk oozing all over the toasted muffin and it literally melts in your mouth. (damn, this sentence just makes me really hungry now).
you get to choose to either have single or double portion of the poached egg but since I look forward to more delicious food later of the day, I opted for the former instead. the total bill (inclusive of 10% service charge) came up to SGD39 which comes up to SGD20 per/person. looking at the portion and quality of the food they serve, i think it is reasonably priced. not super expensive nor dirt cheap.
If you ask me if im coming back for round 2 in the future? the answer is definitely - hell yes I will be back for more!
